Lenny Wilkens' "The Basics" is
a 2-Tape Set & Workbook. Tape 1, "Offense" covers offensive skills
of ball handling, passing, and shooting. Tape 2, "Defense" covers defensive
skills including stance, pressuring the ball, help defense, denial defense,
post defense, defensive rebounding, drills, and tips. In each tape, NBA coach
Dick Helm presents a brief lesson on the different skills while young athletes
are shown performing. After Coach Helm describes the action of each skill,
NBA Hall of Fame coach Lenny Wilkens gives his commentary and draws
chalkboard-style over the video image to reinforce his points. Video action
is punctuated with chalkboard freeze frames from two different camera
angles.
The workbook puts each section into outline form with a video summary outline,
coach Wilkens' comments, and drill play diagrams. Take it with you to individual
practice sessions, team workouts, or even pick up games.
